Fall Classic Game 7 Attracts 51M Audience Members Across the United States, Canada and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extra-inning clash that saw the Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a combined over 50 million watchers across the US, Canadian, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball reported this marks the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 edition showdown between the Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday epic contest averaged over 27 million viewers on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 edition final game involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This marks a 16% improvement compared to the last finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed 4th, Game 4 ranked seventh, Game 5 was 8th, and the third game landed in 13th position.

Global Audience Figures

In the Canadian market, the game recorded 11.6M watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English-language broadcast in Canada since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – recorded 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a single network in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-game series recorded over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This represents the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership increases for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the total US viewership reached 16.1 million. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent rise over last year and Fox’s strongest playoff performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball reported that the World Series was televised in 203 nations and regions by 44 media partners in 16 various languages.
